It is virtually available for all operating systems that have networking capability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; We often use ping to know if the host is available or not. It can also be used to monitor when the host becomes available or unavailable. It expands variable at input time, which is quite a different thing when inside of a for loop<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u21fe&nbsp;<strong>\/c<\/strong> &#8211; Carries out the command specified by string and then terminates<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u21fe&nbsp;for <strong>\/l %a<\/strong> &#8211; for loop with <strong>\/l<\/strong> uses an iterative variable to set the starting value (start#) and then set through a set range of values until the value exceeds the set ending value (end#).<br>&nbsp;<strong>%a<\/strong> is for use on commandline. To use from a script, replace <strong>%a<\/strong> with <strong>%%a<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp; \u21fe&nbsp;<strong>set \/p<\/strong> &#8211; Sets environment variable, where <strong>\/p<\/strong> prompts for user input<br>&nbsp;&nbsp; \u21fe&nbsp;Two additional pause commands are included at the start of subshell (only one can be used, but a pause consumes a input character, a CRLF pair is broken and a line with a LF is read) to wait for&nbsp;input data<br>&nbsp;&nbsp; \u21fe <strong>ping -n 2<\/strong> command is is included to wait a second for each read in the inner loop. It is also what is going into <strong>{0}<\/strong> in the text formatting above<br>&nbsp;&nbsp; \u21fe&nbsp;<strong>$_<\/strong> &#8211; This takes our previous input from ping and puts into <strong>{1}<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u21d2 In addition, for Windows operating systems, the following third-party utilities with more advanced features can also be used.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u25aa &nbsp;<strong><u>PINGWIZ<\/u><\/strong> (<em>Windows<\/em>)<br>&nbsp; &nbsp;PINGWIZ (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ctrl-alt-del.com.au\/freeware-sbc\/\">https:\/\/www.ctrl-alt-del.com.au\/freeware-sbc\/<\/a>) can ping devices with an IPv4 address.<br>&nbsp; &nbsp;It was written to replace the command Ping utility currently found in the MS Windows Operating System.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"675\" height=\"459\" src=\"https:\/\/nuventureconnect.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/image-4.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2985\" style=\"width:543px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nuventureconnect.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/image-4.png 675w, https:\/\/nuventureconnect.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/image-4-300x204.png 300w, https:\/\/nuventureconnect.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/image-4-600x408.png 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 675px) 100vw, 675px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p><strong>SYNTAX:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>cmd&gt; <\/strong>PINGWIZ HOST \/t<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>NOTE<\/strong>: Replace <strong>HOST<\/strong> with the required hostname\/ipaddress(<em>eg: <\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/google.com\"><em>google.com<\/em><\/a>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u25aa &nbsp;<strong><u>Bping<\/u><\/strong> (<em>Windows<\/em>)<br>&nbsp; Bping (<a href=\"https:\/\/gizmoware.net\/bping\/\">https:\/\/gizmoware.net\/bping\/<\/a>) is a Windows ping alternative that beeps whenever it gets replies.<br>&nbsp; This is handy if we have to spend time away from the pinging machine, fiddling with network cables<br>&nbsp; and is having a difficult time reaching back to the machine and running back to the networking devices<br>&nbsp; multiple times.
